Trust is something we practice on a daily basis. When we lay our head to sleep, we trust that we’ll wake up again to see the day. We have faith that the first leg of our flight will arrive just in time for the other half, or that provision will continue flowing because we’ll keep our jobs. It has somehow become a reflex and the only conscious decision to trust Someone greater than us, is usually when adversities and trials become too complicated for human efforts to overcome.
There are so many passages in the bible on trusting God. They come in encouragement, command, heed, or reminder. When we are afraid, we put our trust in Him for He is all-powerful (Psalm 56: 3-5). We trust Him for direction - Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life (Psalm 143:8–10). We rely on God for blessings - But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the streams. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit (Jeremiah 17: 7-8).
We surely, in all circumstances can trust God because He is All-Knowing, Almighty, and ever-present.
The Omniscient God
Romans 11: 33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
“For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
We can trust God because unlike us, His wisdom and knowledge are beyond measure. He does not operate on chances but is fully aware of the past, present, and future. He knows our every move, every path, and every word (Psalm 139:1-4). No good or evil can be hidden from Him so He is faithful to reward and protect. No one can malign His plans for us because only He knows everything.
The Omnipotent God
Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light”.

The very first verses of the bible describe the power and sovereignty of God when He made something out of a complete void. The creation in itself is a display of what God can do. He did not need our creative minds to decide what color to paint the sky or how deep the sea should reach. He is powerful in Himself and He does what He pleases (Psalm 115:3). We can lean on His might to carry us through our troubles for we have a God who is mighty to save (Zephaniah 3:17).
The Omnipresent God
Psalm 139:7–12
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
How comforting it is to know that God is present anywhere we are – in the corner of our room where we worship, He is there. In the dark place where we call for help, He is with us. In the midst of persecution, hardship, and trials, He meets with us. We cannot be too far from God for His loving hands to take hold of us. When no one can bring consolation in our sorrow or share with our joy, rest assured beloved, the Lord is present. Trust that wherever you may be, His goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life (Psalm 23:6).
The Loving God
Romans 5:8
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
The demonstration of God’s love in our ungodly, sinful, wretched state is more than enough proof of His unconditional love for us and thus, His trustworthiness. The heart we must have towards God is one that flows from gratitude, praise, humility, and deep love to the point of denial of our own fleshly and sinful desires. Christ died for us not because we deserve that kind of sacrifice, He died because we are so deprived ourselves, that dying multiple times would not suffice to pay for our sins. This love is so marvelous and humbling. Can we not trust the Lord with all our heart after all He has done out of His love and obedience to the Father and His love for us? Believe that He loves you.
The glory to come will be worth all the hardship and perseverance of our present time. We are not all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. We cannot rely on our hearts because it is deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9). We are commanded to trust the Lord in all circumstances, take His yoke, and rest on Him until the day He comes to wipe our tears and fill our hearts with eternal joy.
Scripture
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I give You praise for Your power, wisdom, and presence in my life. I do not deserve all the good things You have done. Forgive me for not relying fully on Your perfect will for me. May my heart seek to know and love You more than anything in this world. I come to You in faith as I commit my life – all that I can and cannot control, to Your mighty and capable hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
In grace and mercy
